Bio / Career Interests
I am a Professor of Pathology with focused expertise in hematopathology, particularly lymphoma and bone marrow pathology, and in translational hematolymphoid diagnostics. Trained at AIIMS, New Delhi, and currently serving at Christian Medical College, Vellore, my academic and diagnostic practice is centred on the integrated evaluation of lymphoid neoplasms using morphology, immunohistochemistry (IHC), flow cytometry correlation, cytogenetics, and molecular hematopathology.
My core professional interest lies in the diagnostic challenges of lymphoma pathology, especially in the interpretation of difficult and borderline lymphoid lesions, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas, T-cell lymphomas, bone marrow involvement by hematolymphoid neoplasms, and reactive mimics of lymphoma. I have a strong interest in clinicopathological correlation and practical diagnostic algorithms that bridge morphology with ancillary testing in routine practice.
I am actively involved in postgraduate teaching, hematopathology sign-outs, multidisciplinary discussions, and translational research in hematolymphoid malignancies. My academic work has focused on improving diagnostic accuracy, biomarker validation, and understanding the tumor microenvironment in lymphoid neoplasms. Current and recent research interests include:
- Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocytes (TILs) in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (morphologic and IHC-based assessment pre- and post-chemotherapy)
- TARC Immunohistochemistry in Classic Hodgkin Lymphoma and its Histologic Mimics
- HGAL and LMO2 as Germinal Center Markers in Low-Grade B-cell Lymphomas
- MNDA and IRTA1 in the Diagnosis of Marginal Zone Lymphoma
- Bone Marrow Evaluation in Lymphoproliferative Disorders
- Histopathologic and Immunophenotypic Challenges in T-cell Lymphomas
- Adrenal Pheochromocytoma Scoring Systems with Validation of Modified GAPP
I have a special academic interest in challenging lymphoma cases, diagnostic pitfalls in hematopathology, and the application of newer immunophenotypic and molecular markers in routine practice. I regularly participate in national and international conferences, CPCs, slide seminars, and postgraduate training programs, with a strong emphasis on case-based learning and practical hematopathology. I also serve as an examiner and mentor for postgraduate and superspecialty pathology training programs.
